Gilchrist is not only aggressive, but he also has a very good technique. He has the ability to play big innings, but not in a slogging manner one would expect. Amazingly he scores at the same rate in test matches as he does in the one day. He holds the record for the third quickest 200(in terms of the ball faced). He played that record innings against South Africa in Johannesburg where he scored a double century in just 212 balls.
