Brian Charles Lara-home

Lara- Prince of Port-of-Spain

If ever there is one man who has the ability to score as big and as often as Sir Don Bradman, it is Brian Lara, the West Indies skipper. A match winner, he has single handedly took West Indies to many historic wins. He is one of the most dangerous bats man in the world who has the ability to destroy any kind of bowling attack, no matter the pitch conditions. When in full form, even the best of the bowlers struggle to get their line right against this man. Brian Lara's batting is a delight to watch. With his bat lifted high in the air, front knee slightly bent and eyes low is always ready to go after the bowling. Lara is a kind of a player who always likes to be on the charge. A massive hitter of the ball, he also displays a very good batting technique.

He plays thunderous shots on his off side, even when given the slightest of the width. His three greatest innings, the 375 and 400* in tests and the 501 in first class cricket has become histories. His career was hampered by the hamstring problem for a while, but Lara then changing his style of playing the back lift, again made a comeback in Sri Lanka in 2001-02, with 221 and 130 in one Test and a record 688 runs in the series, and reclaimed the captaincy the following year. Captaining a highly indiscipline and an inconsistent team, Lara and his team faced many defeats. Brian Lara's 400 in fourth test against England saved West Indies from a white wash in their own soil. Though his career has had a lot of controversies, Lara is one of the greatest batsmen the world has ever seen.
