At the age of 11, his brother amazed by Tendulkar's natural talent took him to Mr Ramakan Achrekar for a professional coaching in cricket. In 1985 he changed his school and was admitted to Dadar's Shardashram Vidyamandir. Shardashram was well known for its cricket team at the school level.
Sachin became popular when he made a 664 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket, with his childhood friend Vinod Kambi in a match played between Shardaashram and St Xavier's. Tendulkar was 329 not out and kambli 349 not out. As expected, when in his 9th grade Tendulkar was selected to play for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.
But the big event happened, when he was 16 years and 205 days. He was selected to play for the Indian Cricket team. He made his debut in Pakistan in 1989. When he played in Pakistan he was the youngest player ever to play for India in tests. In 1990, at an age of 17, he made his maiden century against England at Old Trafford. At the age of 21, he scored his first one day international century against Australia at Columbo. And at an age of 23 he was appointed the captain of the Indian Cricket team. Though his records as a captain were not good, he cherished as a batsman. As of now he holds a no of records, out of which to mention a few, he holds the record for the most no of runs scored and the maximum no of centuries.
