Akhtar- The Rawalpindi Express

Even the best of the batsman feel uneasy at the crease, when they see Akhtar, pacing from the bowling end, ready to deliver a deadly ball. This speedster has an inherent capability to generate ferocious speed and has a wide range of deliveries, which makes him one of the deadliest bowlers. His deadly run up, his long falling hair and his fast bowling has made it all exciting to watch.Shoaib Akhtar entered the big stage in the 1999 World Cup with a long run-up and blistering speed. Shoaib Akhtar's nickname-the Rawalpindi Express, his long hair and his off field promises, all created a lot of hype for this man. Fans of Shoaib Akhtar started expecting a lot from him. But it all seemed too much. Akhtar blindly wanted to break the 100mph barrier. It was said that he didn't concentrate on wicket taking. Twice he was expelled for suspected actions, but shortly cleared all those issues and made a strong come back. Though early in his career he was blindly behind quick balling, over the years he has matured. One can see him balling quickly but sensibly in the recent matches. He has the ability to ball deadly Yorkers and effective slow balls. Shoaib is still a match-winner in one-day cricket, possessing an awesome average of around 20 and best figures of six for 16. Usually a man of controversies, both on and off the field he has to mould himself into a more responsible and mature cricketer for a long and successful career.
