Sourav Ganguly- The Prince of Culcutta

Starting off his career with a lot of controversies, today he has become the most successful captain for India. When he was selected for the England tour in 1996, he was called a quota cricketer; His selection was considered as an evil of the quota system that was followed by the selection board. It was Ganguly's mental strength that made him overcome all the criticism and he responded to those criticisms by actions and not just words.

His batting is a perfect combination of elegance and timing. You can see a tight off side field set for this man. Yet you can see the ball piercing through the offside field for a boundary. That's his strength on the off side. Ganguly is such a sweet timer of the ball, that he doesn't need any big foot work to play his shots. Watching this man play against the leg spinners is a visual treat.

Ganguly, who begins his innings cautiously, can explode when he is well set and set the stands ablaze by his spectacular stroke playing. He can also bowl right arm medium fast, which has proved to be very effective in seaming pitches. His on field and off field aggressiveness has earned him the names of The Bengal Tiger and The Prince of Culcutta. Till now he has been the most successful captain for India and we hope he continues doing so.
