Sourav Ganguly was born in the 'City of Joy'. He was born in a luxurious family. His father Chandidas Ganguly is still one of the major names in the printing business in Kolkata. Ganguly has an elder brother Snehashish Ganguly, who himself has captained and played for Bengal. Apart from Ganguly and his brother, his family doesn't have any big sporting backgrounds.
His parents were not much interested in Ganguly choosing cricket or any other sport as his career. His brother being an established cricketer for the Bengal Cricket team, convinced his parents and got Ganguly enrolled in a Cricket Coaching Camp during his Class Ten Holidays. It was like this that this great cricketer got into cricket.
