Zinedine Yazid Zidane was born in Marseilles, France the 23 of June of 1972. His parents (Smail and Malika) were Algerian immigrants. He has four brothers, Djamel, Farid, Nourredine and Lila. From a very young age Zidane had a liking for football. Zidane's father, Smail worked as a warehouseman, often on the night shift. But he was an attentive father. He remembers Zinedine as a gentle little boy but one who was still energetic enough to smash all the lights in the apartment with his ball. His father was a very big inspiration for Zidane.
In 1992 Zidane married Veronique, who is of French-Spanish origin. They met while he was at Cannes and they now have three boys. Zidane says They are all good footballers, I would be happy for them to go into the game. But they must work hard first. That is what I have learnt.
